Inappropriate evaluation of self-worth when drawing comparisons with others. It may take the form of believing oneself to be superior, inferior, or equal. It is the eighth of the ten fetters (saṃyojana) and should be distinguished from the first of these (satkāya-dṛṣṭi) which is belief in permanent self or ātman.
