A condition in which semen contains no spermatozoa or contains only dead and decomposed spermatozoa. The causes include vasectomy and diseases of the testes, e.g., fibrosis following mumps orchitis, high doses of ionizing radiation, exposure of testicles to severe heat, exposure to toxic chemicals such as dibromochloropropane (DBCP).
