‘The Sūtra of the Perfection of Insight in Eight Thousand Verses’. One of the earliest surviving versions of the Perfection of Insight group of Mahāyāna sūtras (see Prajñā-pāramitā Sūtras). Probably dating from 100 bce or earlier, this text comprises 32 chapters and covers many key Mahāyāna topics, including the career of a Bodhisattva.the nature of emptiness (śūnyatā), and the development and application of the Perfection of Insight. The text survives in Sanskrit.as well as Tibetan and Chinese translations.
