(AQA)

The largest of the three major awarding bodies responsible for academic and vocational qualifications for 18–19‐year‐olds. It was formed in 1997 as the result of an alliance between three awarding bodies: the City and Guilds of London Institute, which had been responsible for the assessment and award of a range of vocational qualifications, including teacher training qualifications for the further education sector; and the Northern and the Associated Examining Boards, both awarding bodies for General Certificate of Secondary Education and Advanced Level.
