A representative body for private-client investment managers and stockbrokers, formed in June 1990. It aims to improve the environment and expand the market in which private-investors' business is transacted. The association represents 95% of eligible firms with a network of over 250 offices throughout the UK. It publishes a directory of private-client stockbrokers, with details of members and the services they provide. It is run by an elected committee with a small permanent secretariat based in London, assisted by specialist practitioner committees.
