The organization of academic staff who teach in medical schools, schools of public health, etc., in the United States and Canada with some members in other countries. Although not large, this organization has taken important initiatives, including sponsorship of the Preventive Services Task Force, which established guidelines for the conduct of clinical and community-based preventive interventions such as screening procedures.
