A tribunal that hears and decides appeals against decisions made by the Home Office in matters of asylum, immigration, and nationality. Set up under the Asylum and Immigration (Treatment of Claimants etc.) Act 2004, it came into being on 4 April 2005 and is the successor to the Immigration Appeal Tribunal. It is administered by the Tribunals Service and subject to the supervision of the Administrative Justice and Tribunals Council.
