Fr. violinist and composer of music for violin and for the stage. Started career as dancing‐master and violinist in cabarets. Wrote incid. mus. Entered Duke of Bourbon's service 1719. Member of 24 Violins du Roy 1727–46. Led orch. at Opéra 1728–52 and played at Concert Spirituel 1729–40. Wrote several vn. sonatas with bass, 10 concs. for 4 vn. and bass, operas, and short pieces.
