A NASA procedure to improve an astronaut's tolerance to space sickness. It combines biofeedback and autogenic therapy, which is a learned self-regulation technique. AFTE can control space sickness symptoms involving the autonomous nervous system, such as nausea and vomiting. The exercise was developed at the Ames Research Center and was first used on the third Spacelab mission in 1985.
