autonomously replicating sequences

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

Eukaryotic DNA sequences that function as origins of replication, even though all of them may not be used in every cell cycle. ARSs have been isolated in yeast, and their functioning requires a 14 base pair core region. This contains an 11 base pair consensus sequence that consists almost entirely of A-T base pairs. See replication origin, replicon.
