A superfamily of costimulatory molecules that bind to CD28 or CTLA-4 and regulate T-cell responses. They are part of the immunoglobulin superfamily and have an extracellular domain related to variable and constant immunoglobulin domains. B7-1 is CD80, B7-2 is CD86. Other members are inducible costimulator ligand (ICOS-L), programmed death-1 ligands 1 and 2 (PD-L1, PD-L2), B7-H3, and B7-H4.
