(c.1550–1609), Italian composer of sacred and secular music who worked in Venice, Ravenna, Mantua, and Verona. Among his works are two books of madrigals published in 1572, each of which opens with a different sequence of pieces celebrating the defeat of the Turks at Lepanto.
