US astronaut. He is NASA's manager of International and Crew Operations for the International Space Station. He has undertaken four space shuttle flights, including an Endeavour mission in September 1994 that marked the second flight of the Space Radar Laboratory, and the January 1997 launch of Atlantis to the Russian space station Mir. Baker was selected as an astronaut in 1985.
