French architect who worked for Cardinal Richelieu (1585–1642). His Livre d'Architecture d'Autels et de Cheminées (1632) illustrated altar- and chimney-pieces, many in an elaborate Mannerist style. Inigo Jones was influenced by Barbet's designs, some of which reappeared in Robert Pricke's The Architects Store-House (1672).
