Quick Reference

Italian patron, architect, and theorist. He translated Vitruvius into Italian (1556), and provided a learned commentary, which, with Palladio's illustrations, made I dieci libri one of the most useful editions ever published, as well as containing a treatise by Barbaro on Harmonic Proportions. In 1568 he published a book on perspective (La pratica della perspettiva), and probably was responsible for some aspects of Palladio's villa at Maser (1550s) and the Palazzo Trevisan, Murano (completed 1557).
