(Raymond Martin Barallobre; b San Francisco, 3 Jan. 1930)
US dancer, director and ballet master. He studied at San Francisco School of Ballet and American Ballet Theatre School and joined San Francisco Opera Ballet (1949). From 1953 to 1959 he danced with American Ballet Theatre. In 1959 he joined Stuttgart Ballet as a principal, where he remained until injury forced him to retire from the stage in 1966. He created roles in Cranko's Romeo and Juliet (1962), Swan Lake (1963), Firebird (1964), and Onegin (title role, 1965), and MacMillan's Las Hermanas (1963) and Song of the Earth (1965). He was ballet master of Berlin Opera Ballet (1966–70), Frankfurt Ballet (1970–73), and Hamburg Ballet (1973–76), associate director and guest choreographer of Madrid's Ballet Nacional Clásico in the late 1980s, and artistic director of Berlin Opera Ballet (1994–96). He has staged versions of the classics for the Bavarian State Ballet.
