The [first] ‘Confession of Basle’, compiled by O. Myconius, was made the basis of the reform introduced at Basle in 1534. It represents a compromise between the positions of M. Luther and U. Zwingli. The ‘First Helvetic Confession’ of 1536 is sometimes known as the ‘Second Confession of Basle’.
