Known for illustrated books on architecture and the decorative arts, as well as practical handbooks for professional builders. A pioneer in the use of photographic illustrations (see16), Batsford and his firm maintained a loyal coterie of authors. His sons, Bradley and Herbert, continued to publish high-quality books on the buildings, topography, and social history of Britain: they were succeeded by their nephew Harry Batsford.
