Quick Reference

A measure of the angular width of a radio telescope beam. Full-width at half-maximum (FWHM) or the half-power beamwidth (HPBW) is the width of the beam at a point where the power received from a point source is half its peak value. As a rule, the smaller the beamwidth, the better the resolution of the telescope.
