A Czechoslovakian mineralogist and petrologist from the University of Prague, Becke developed a method for determining the relative refraction of light in microscopy, later named for him. He also did important work on metamorphic recrystallization, developing a descriptive terminology and a classification of metamorphic facies. See becke line test.
