Quick Reference

Weight-training benches are usually tubular or rigid-framed. Most are padded for comfort and can be adjusted to vary the exerciser's position. Some have reclining seats, barbell supports and additional attachments for specific arm and leg exercises. Before using a bench for weight training, ensure that it is sturdy and placed on a firm, flat surface for maximum stability and safety. Make sure also that when you lie on the bench your feet can be firmly planted on the ground and that you can keep your trunk flat on the bench.
