antipope at Avignon from 1394 to 1417. Pedro de Luna took part in the election of Urban VI, but later supported the antipope Clement VII. He succeeded him, largely because he promised to end the schism, if necessary by abdication. After his enthronement he refused to resign. The Council of Pisa deposed him in 1409; that of Constance confirmed his deposition in 1417, and his last adherents then left him.
