Australian dancer and director. She studied at the Scully Borovansky and Australian Ballet Schools, joining Australian Ballet in 1973. Three years later she moved to Stuttgart Ballet, becoming soloist, and noted especially for her performances in the Forsythe repertory. When injury cut short her stage career in 1984 she retrained as a teacher and taught at the John Cranko School, National Ballet School, Canada, and also for numerous companies worldwide. In 1989 she became ballet mistress at Frankfurt Ballet, remaining there for 15 years and also staging Forsythe's ballets internationally. In 2005 she was appointed director of Royal Ballet of Flanders, where she has attempted to bridge the gap between its classical and modern repertories, and has acquired several Forsythe works including his full-length Impressing the Czar.
