[Ir., living].

The Nemedian ancestor of the Tuatha Dé Danann. In the pseudo-history Lebor Gabála [Book of Invasions], Beóthach was grandson of Nemed and son of Iarbanél, who survived the rout at Tory Island. He later died in a plague, but his clan left the dynastic wars of Ireland, after the defeat of the Nemedians, to migrate over northern Europe, where they perfected the arts of divination, druidism, and philosophy. His followers returned eleven generations later as the Tuatha Dé Danann.
