(1899–1966), comic actress. A stereotypical plump, homey Jewish mother, the New Yorker adapted her radio character of Molly Goldberg into a starring vehicle, Me and Molly (1948). Later she played Mrs. Jacoby, who falls in love with a Japanese businessman, in A Majority of One (1959) and Libby Hirsch, who employs psychoanalysis to help her family, in Dear Me, the Sky Is Falling (1963).
