Franciscan reformer. He became a Franciscan friar at the age of 22 and in 1438 was elected Vicar General of the Friars of the Strict Observance in Italy. He was an eloquent preacher and at the time of his death perhaps the most influential religious force in Italy. He promoted devotion to the Name of Jesus. Feast day, 20 May.
