(1872–1959), scholar. Born in Derry and educated at Foyle College, he lived in Paris, where he met Kuno Meyer. He translated Henri d'Arbois de Jubainville's lectures at the Collège de France (The Irish Mythological Cycle and Celtic Mythology, 1903). In 1904 he became a librarian at the National Library of Ireland, and was appointed Director in 1924. His Bibliography of Irish Philology and of Printed Irish Literature (1913), was followed by Bibliography of Irish Philology and Manuscript Literature: Publications 1913–1941 (1942).
