A developmental condition, characterized by maxillo-nasal dysplasia combined with other malformations including severe mid-facial retrusion, pseudo-mandibular or true mandibular prognathism, and hypoplastic frontal sinuses. Treatment depends on the severity of the malocclusion and may involve orthodontics or surgery. It was first defined by K. H. Binder in 1962 as a distinct clinical syndrome.
