published many works on art, chiefly English and oriental, Painting in the Far East (1908) being one of the best known. His dramas included Attila (1907) and Arthur (1923, with music by Elgar). His war poems include his much anthologized ‘For the Fallen’ (‘…They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old…’); and he wrote two long odes, The Sirens (1924) and The Idols (1928). The Collected Poems appeared in 1931, as did Landscape in English Art and Poetry.
