Ballet in one act with choreography by Ashton, music by Glazunov (arr. Irving), and designs by André Levasseur. Premiered 5 May 1956 by Sadler's Wells Ballet at Covent Garden, with Fonteyn, Grey, Elvin, Nerina, Jackson, Beriosova, Fifield, and Somes. A virtuosic classical display piece for seven ballerinas, it was created to celebrate the company's 25th birthday. In 1989 it was revived for American Ballet Theatre to celebrate that company's 50th anniversary in 1990.
