black box model

Show Summary Details

Quick Reference

A model of information processing in which an individual is considered to be a black box into which information flows from the environment. The information is processed in various ways inside the box until it is expressed as observable behaviour (the output). Researchers using this model focus mainly on what goes into the box (the information or stimuli) and the behavioural output. Nothing of the structure of the box is known beyond what can be deduced from the behaviour.
