Concentration of glucose in the blood. Too much causes hyperglycaemia, too little causes hypoglycaemia; both conditions are harmful. Blood glucose concentration is controlled mainly by the interaction of hormones: insulin tends to reduce blood glucose; glucagon, adrenaline, and glucocorticoids tend to increase blood glucose levels.
