Is a euphemistic term for the use of performance appraisal to identify the bottom 10 per cent of performers within the organization, often known as ‘C-players’, who are then ‘bounced’ out of employment (in other words, dismissed). The practice is also sometimes referred to as ‘top-grading’ or ‘ ranking-and-yanking’. [See dismissal, forced ranking, and performance management.]
