(in international law) An imaginary line that determines the territorial limits of a state. Such boundaries define the limitation of each state's effective jurisdiction. They are three-dimensional in nature in that they include the airspace and subsoil of the state, the terra firma within the boundary, and the maritime domain of the state's internal waters and territorial sea.
