Quick Reference

A radar echo in the form of an arc, often some 100 km in length. Damaging straight-line winds (see derecho) sometimes occur along the central region of such an echo, and the cyclonic circulation at the northern end (in the northern hemisphere) may promote the development of tornadoes.
