Ballet in one act with choreography by Balanchine, music by Chabrier, and costumes by Barbara Karinska. Premiered 1 Dec. 1949 by New York City Ballet at City Center, New York, with LeClercq, Robbins, Maria Tallchief, Magallanes, Janet Reed, and Herbert Bliss. A light-hearted, plotless work in three movements. It was revived for London Festival Ballet in 1960, restaged by Balanchine for the Paris Opera Ballet in 1963, and revived by American Ballet Theatre in 1981.
