Quick Reference

The process of providing rigid denture components (bracing components) to resist horizontal displacement forces generated during function by occlusal contact and the oral musculature surrounding the denture. The bracing components are placed against suitable vertical surfaces of the teeth and residual ridges. Bracing components on the teeth may be rigid parts of clasp arms or plates; bracing on the residual ridges and palate is achieved by major connectors and denture flanges. See also reciprocation.
