A distinctive locality in south-western Norfolk and north-western Suffolk, England, with a mosaic of grass heath and Pteridium aquilinum (bracken) and Calluna vulgaris (heather or ling) communities. Forest once grew over the breckland. Pollen analysis has demonstrated that the forest was cleared by Neolithic farmers.
