A trade association for insurance brokers formed in 1977. It provides public relations, free advice, representation in parliament, and a conciliation service for consumers. In 1988 the Association widened its membership to include investment advisers; BIBA was subsequently instrumental in establishing the Association of Independent Financial Advisers' Association (AIFA) in 1994.
