Benjamin Collins Brodie was born in Winterslow, Wiltshire on 8 June 1783 and died at Broome Park, Betchworth, Surrey on 21 October 1862. He was the third son of Peter Brodie, rector of Winterslow, and Sarah Collins, daughter of Benjamin Collins, a banker and printer who resided at Milford, near Salisbury.
