British designer. He trained at Central School of Art and Design and while contributing designs to many opera and theatre productions is best known for his longstanding collaboration with choreographer Matthew Bourne. This began with Highland Fling (1994) and continued with Swan Lake, Cinderella, The Car Man, Play Without Words, Edward Scissorhands, and Dorian Gray—his contributions going beyond design to co-developing the libretto and production concept. He also designed Seven Deadly Sins (2008) for the Royal Ballet; Into the Woods and The Soldier's Tale for Will Tuckett; Romeo and Juliet, Swan Lake, A Christmas Carol, and Dracula for Northern Ballet Theatre. He co-wrote and co-directed Les Liaisons Dangereuses (2005) with Adam Cooper.
