bundle branch block

A defect in the specialized conducting tissue of the heart (see arrhythmia) that is identified on an electrocardiogram. Right bundle branch block is a normal variant in children and young adults, but may reflect chronic lung disease or ischaemic heart disease in older adults. Left bundle branch block may occur with ischaemic heart disease, hypertension, or cardiomyopathy.
