Quick Reference

Pejorative term for a development of speculative bungalows with no aesthetic or architectural qualities: although mostly associated with suburbs (e.g. the fringes of Golders Green, London), a famous example is Peacehaven, East Sussex, built immediately after the 1914–18 war, and sometimes known as 'New-Anzac-on-Sea', because of its resemblance to Antipodean suburbs.
