German architect, who assisted Gärtner in the designs for the Ludwigstrasse, Munich. He designed the Rathaus (Town Hall), Fürth (1840–3), based on the Palazzo Vecchio, Florence, and the polychromatic Rundbogenstil Hauptbahnhof (Main Railway Station), Munich (1847–9—destroyed). His new architectural style for the Maximilianstrasse was a brick and terracotta version of English, German, and Italian Gothic (1852–75).
