The founder, or organizer, of the Maharashtrian anti-Vedic and antinomian Mahānubhāva movement. He was later deified by the tradition as one of the ‘five Kṛṣṇas’. He is the subject of an extensive hagiographical literature (e.g. the Sūtrapāṭha and the Līḷācaritra) in Marathi.
