A plasma membrane G-protein-coupled receptor that is expressed in the parathyroid hormone-producing cells of the parathyroid gland and the cells lining the kidney tubule. By sensing blood calcium levels it regulates parathyroid hormone secretion and thus calcium homeostasis. Mutations can lead to hypoparathyroidism.
