A family of proteins with tissue-specific isoforms that are high-capacity, moderate affinity calcium-binding proteins that sequester calcium in the sarcoplasmic reticulum. Calsequestrin-1 (390 aa) is the skeletal muscle isoform, calsequestrin-2 that of cardiac muscle.
