A malignant neoplasm (including both carcinoma and sarcoma) which arises from the abnormal and uncontrolled division of cells and which invades and destroys the surrounding tissues. The primary neoplasm has a tendency to spread (metastasize) to other parts of the body and establish secondary neoplasms. See also carcinoma; sarcoma.
