A constellation of the southern sky, popularly known as the Great Dog. It is distinguished by the brightest star in the sky, Sirius (Alpha Canis Majoris). Other bright stars in Canis Major are Beta (Mirzam), Delta (Wezen), and Epsilon (Adhara). Canis Major contains a notable open star cluster, M41, magnitude 4.5.
