A subfamily of bovids that range in size from the goral (Nemorhaedus goral), 1.06–1.17 m from head to tail, to the musk-ox (Ovibos moschatus), 2.45 m long. Most are gregarious and several have adapted to extreme environments (subarctic, very rugged, or semidesert). Goat antelopes first appear in the Miocene. There are 11 genera and 26 species, distributed world-wide.
